Chicago Online CISSP Training FAQ's
Can I take the CISSP exam without any experience in cybersecurity?
Yes, it is possible to take the CISSP exam without any cybersecurity background. However, you won’t be awarded the CISSP certification.
Instead, you'll earn the status of Associate of ISC2 and will have six years to acquire the required five years of work experience for the certification. This is because you need at least five years of cumulative paid work experience in two or more of the CISSP domains to earn the certificate.
If you lack the required cumulative experience, you can substitute up to one year of the work experience requirement with relevant education or an approved ISC certification. This means that, with such a substitution, you would only need a total of 4 years of work experience to qualify for the CISSP examination. The same applies to those awarded the Associate of ISC2 status.
Can I take the CISSP exam online?
While the CISSP exam is generally taken online, you can’t take the test at home. You must take it at an accredited Pearson Vue testing center. ISC2 is committed to maintaining the integrity and security of the exam process, thereby ensuring the value of the CISSP certification. As of now, there are approximately six accredited testing centers in Chicago.
